Girl Scout Troop 40588 invites all Milan Girl Scouts to bring a friend to celebrate the birthday of Girl Scouting’s founder, 6 to 7:45 p.m., Thursday, October 25 at Marble Methodist Church.
At the Milan Cluster Juliette Gordon Low Birthday Costume Party, Girl Scouts and their friends will enjoy games, a fun house, dancing , crafts and refreshments. Troops are asked to bring enough treats for the number of girls in the troop. The Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors of Troop 40588 will provide beverages and paper products and will conduct the activities.
Girls are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to a local food bank. Girl Scout appropriate costumes are encouraged, but not required.
“We want girls to bring a friend along so that they can see how much fun Girl Scouts can be,” said LisaAnn Throne, Girl Scouts area manager.
Juliette Gordon Low (who was born on Halloween )founded Girl Scouting 100 years ago in Savannah, Georgia. Currently, Girl Scouting has 3.1 million members in the United States. In the past 100 years, 50 million American women have been Girl Scouts.
