SAGINAW – You’ve heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but how about Girl Scout Thursday?
Not to be left out of the holiday shopping frenzy, the Saginaw Regional office of Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan will be open from 3-8 p.m. on Nov. 29 for its annual Holiday Open House. The festivities will include photo ops with Santa and activities for the children to keep them entertained which will offer the opportunity for parents to shop in the store.
“We’ve done this annually,” said Sherry Holley, Retail Sales Specialist with Saginaw’s Regional office. “Due to the far reaching boundaries of our area we wanted to do more and give families a reason to come to the Regional Center because we want them to feel a sense of ownership of it.
“We sell a lot of Christmas gifts. We have fun Girl Scout accessories that make girls proud and excited to show their love of the program.”
However, the open house is for anyone and everyone interested in learning more about GSHOM and the work which takes place in the Saginaw office.
“A lot of people have not visited before,” Holley said. “We’ve had a lot of parents and families who found that they were able to explore the meeting spaces and what better welcoming committee can you have then Santa Claus and his elves.”
Last year more than 100 people stopped by the Holiday Open House.
“We want the girls to feel comfortable in their Regional Center,” Holley said. “Being able to wear Girl Scout apparel and gear helps them to identify with the organization they belong to.”
