SCHOOLCRAFT – Bingo, clipboards and fishing for money are a few of the activities planned for a Cookie Rally Pajama Party on Saturday as a way to teach girls here about the five skills involved in selling cookies.
Angie Harrington, area manager in Schoolcraft and leader of Daisy Troop 80311 and Brownie Troop 80307, organized the event as a way to get Girl Scouts in her area excited about upcoming cookie sales. Harrington said the girls are encouraged to wear pajamas even though they won’t be spending the night at Schoolcraft United Methodist Church where the event is being held.
“This would have been my first sleepover and I really want the parents to spend the night with their girls at their first sleepover,” Harrington said.
The Pajama Party begins at 6 p.m. and will include a Cookie Rally involving a Bingo game which will take girls to various stations where they will learn about the Five Skills of cookie selling. There also will be crafts and an opportunity for girls to make their Goal Getter cards.
Harrington said she has put together a powerpoint about the Cookie Club for parents to watch. She said she is expecting about 60 girls to attend the event.
These girls will get hands-on experience with cookie sales at a cookie booth where they will rotate as sellers and buyers.
“At every station they go to they can pretty much earn a badge by the end of the event,” Harrington said. “I’m hoping they can get five skills out of it and get excited about selling cookies, especially those girls who have never sold cookies before.”
Harrington said girls may attend on their own. She said older girls who would like to volunteer may contact her at (269) 679-7058.
