New! Pin Trading
Posted by Shayne Wheeler on 10/01/2013
How does it work?
It’s simple. Purchase your pins at any Girl Scout Heart of Michigan shop. Display your pins on your lanyard at any Girl Scout event (troop meetings, SWAP fests, etc.) and trade away!
Pins can be traded for other Girl Scout pins only. A fellow girl or volunteer has the option to refuse a trade if they choose, however our staff will always trade! A maximum of two pins can be traded with any one person at an event (including staff trades).
Is it okay to trade earned recognitions?
We would never want you to trade something you worked hard to earn. Additionally, earned recognitions are worn on the front of your sash or vest and not on a lanyard.
Will new pins come out regularly?
Each Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan shop will be offering different pins (including seasonal and dated items) throughout the year. Not all shops will carry the same selection, so we encourage you to visit all six council shops to build your collection.
What if I don’t want to trade my pins?
Pin trading is entirely optional but wearing a lanyard at events with pins signifies you are participating in pin trading – we do offer “starter” sets to get your lanyard going. Also, you can purchase the same pin twice (one to keep, one to trade) if you want.
Is there anything else I should know?
Have fun! Pin trading is a great way to meet new people and interact with others. Remember to always check out the shops and camp trading posts for new pins.
