Welcome to GSHOM!
Girl Scouting is embarking on an exciting evolution to better meet the needs of girls in today’s fast-changing world. Across the country, Girl Scout councils are merging together in order to ensure every girl receives the best Girl Scouting has to offer.
Locally, we are also laying the foundation for an even stronger future. Five central Michigan councils — Glowing Embers, Girl Scouts of the Huron Valley, Girl Scouts Irish Hills, Girl Scouts of Michigan Capital, Girl Scouts of Mitten Bay and two jurisdictional changing councils – Girl Scouts of Fair Winds and Girl Scouts of Singing Sands are merging to form one great council.
This endeavor is being led by the Council Realignment Committee (CRC), which is chaired by the Presidents and CEOs of each council. The new name for the merging councils is Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan (GSHOM). The target launch date for merging the councils is October 1, 2008.
Girls are at the center of our transformation. We want this transition to be seamless for them and our volunteers. All councils within the merger will do everything they can to ensure the girls receive the best experience possible during this time and as we transition into a new council.
