Ways Parents Can Help
Sure, the girls are first in Girl Scouting, but as the adult members can attest, there's fun in it for adults, too! A successful Girl Scout year depends on involved parents. Here is a list of ways you can help. Don’t limit yourself to this list. If you see a way you can be helpful let your Troop Leader know. We encourage dads to get involved too!
As a parent you can:
- Talk to your Troop Leaders, let them know how much time you have to donate and find out how you can lighten their load.
Thank the Leaders informally often and more formally at least once each year.
- Pick-up your Girl Scout on time.
- Attend all parent meetings.
- Attend one or two field trips and help with the transportation.
- Do the grocery shopping for camp outings.
- Agree to bring a meeting snack once a year and coordinate other parents to do the same.
- Offer to make the Troop phone calls and copies.
- Assist with a cookie booth sale.
- Be a parent helper at one or two meetings a year – help supervise activities, share a talent or area of expertise.
- Sign up to be the Troop Cookie Manager, Troop Treasurer or Troop Camper.
Take an hour a week and get involved. You will become a part of your daughter's life and will enjoy watching her grow in Girl Scouting.
