We believe that financial hardship should never be a barrier to attending one of our camps. The need for scholarship funds and supplies at all of our camps has increased dramatically this year as we continue to work in a challenging economy. Your donation will help make camp possible for girls who might not otherwise have this opportunity. You can contribute to our camp scholarship fund, and provide support for the food and supplies we still need before another summer begins.
Much has changed since Girl Scouts was founded in 1912, and girls face a whole new set of challenges that founder Juliette Gordon Low could have never imagined. Because we believe girls need Girl Scouts now more than ever, we hope you'll join thousands of Girl Scout alumna, volunteers and and staff in helping us ensure that Girl Scouting thrives for another 100 years.
Each year, we must raise an additional $1,500,000 to sustain our programs for girls and services to volunteers. This is where we really need your help. The remaining dollars must come from you and others who believe in the Girl Scout mission.
From homeless shelters to juvenile halls, from migrant facilities to schools with high levels of students receiving free or reduced-price lunches, we work to ensure that all girls have the opportunity to become Girl Scouts.
After-school enrichment programs are financially out of reach for these families, whose daughters often spend the critical after-school hours on their own, without supervision, guidance or wholesome activities. Girl Scout outreach addresses these challenges. We spend approximately $250,000 each year to help bring the benefits of Girl Scouting to those girls who need us most.
Additionally, we pay stipends to qualified facilitators who work within the community find volunteer troop leaders, so that the girls can look forward to sustainable, year-round programming.
