Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain an ongoing relationship with troop, parents/guardians, Area Management Team and Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan (GSHOM), to ensure girl-led programing is sustained on a regular and ongoing basis.

1. Be a Girl Developer
a. Support girl-led activities that are safe, fun, interactive, and address current issues involving girls’ interests and needs.
b. Facilitate learning by doing activities and trips to help girls think about their experiences so they can apply what they’ve learned to other areas of their lives.
c. Implement cooperative learning in troop activities and trips to promote teamwork, practice having a shared goal, and build cohesiveness as a troop.
2. Be a Role Model
a. Live by the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
b. Remain flexible and tolerant in response to changing situations and environments, and demonstrate this behavior
c. Foster diversity by understanding and embracing differences.
d. Have fun!
3. Be a Coordinator
a. Manage troop funds in accordance with Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) and Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan (GSHOM) policies and procedures while teaching the girls how to use this method so they can take over that responsibility.
b. Follow Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) and Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan (GSHOM) policies and procedures in providing the Girl Scout program to girls.
c. Assure that girls participating in the troop are registered members of Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), and assist in promptly processing membership registrations.
4. Be a Team Player
a. Provide regular communications with parents/guardians on an agreed upon method (email, phone calls, newsletters, blogs, social media, etc.) with clear and concise ideas.
b. Communicate with volunteer supervisor (Area Manager, Troop Organizer, Membership Specialist) on a regular basis and support the Girl Scout area and Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan.
Volunteer agrees to:
• Support the Girl Scout mission and values and the activities and goals of Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan.
• Complete trainings as expected.
• Comply with membership requirements and register as a member of the Girl Scouts of the USA and Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan.
• Provide up-to-date information if there are any changes to volunteer application and background check data.
• Devote sufficient time and energy to fulfill the outlined position requirements.
• Comply with safety, financial, and all other policies and standards of Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan and Girl Scouts of the USA.
• Acknowledge that the position is voluntary and that Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan does not provide monetary compensation.
Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan agrees to:
• Provide a position description/volunteer agreement and a copy of the volunteer policies.
• Offer an orientation, relevant training, and learning opportunities for the position.
• Give recognition for time and energy devoted to the position.
• Support Equal Opportunity for volunteers as described in Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan’s volunteer policies.
• Carry liability insurance and supplementary accident insurance as part of Girl Scouts of the USA and/or Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan membership.
• Provide ongoing support, guidance, and feedback.
