Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan received $8,000 from the Forward Corporation Donor Advised Fund at the Bay Area Community Foundation through the Arenac Community Foundation. These funds will support providing more girls in Arenac County with the immense benefits of the Girl Scout experience.
Being a Girl Scout gives girls a broad range of volunteer-led and staff-led experiences that prepare them for success as adults. Programming focuses on four key components: leadership and life skills, STEAM, financial literacy and entrepreneurship, and outdoor skills.
GSHOM’s CEO Brenna West says, “We are beyond grateful for the support of the Arenac Community Foundation. Keeping Girl Scouting accessible for girls is a key priority of ours, and this gift allows us to ensure every girl who wants to be a Girl Scout can do so without question.”
The Bay Area Community Foundation awards grants twice a year to local nonprofits and 501(c ) (3)s in Bay and Arenac Counties. The Foundation’s mission is to fulfill a wide array of donors’ charitable wishes by building permanent endowment funds and serving as a leader for community improvement through effective grantmaking and collaboration.
