Just by being yourself, you can be a person that girls can count on—the one who listens intently, who encourages them to chase their goals, who keeps them laughing, and who helps them feel confident in who they are. Together, you’ll build a community where every girl is celebrated and valued.
Whether you can give a few hours a week, once a month, or throughout the year, there's a role for everyone to be involved and support their Girl Scouts. Take a look at a few of the different types of roles below of how to be a volunteer.
- Troop Leader/Co-Leader Volunteer
These volunteers mentor a local group of Girl Scouts as they discover new skills, make lifelong friends, and have fun changing the world. As part of a troop’s volunteer team, Troop Leaders set the troop’s schedule, plan and facilitate regular troop meetings, and connect with the local Girl Scout community.
- Troop Volunteer
Assisting the Troop Leader, Troop Volunteers provide support to the troop in a variety of ways. They also help supervise troop activities, transportation, and more. Many hands make for light work!
- Troop Product Program Volunteer
Product volunteers coordinate annual Treats & Reads and Cookie Programs at the troop level. They have the opportunity to set up booths, host or work at a cupboard, manage inventory and money, then watch the girls grow their business skills.
- Troop Treasurer Volunteer
This is the point person for managing troop funds. Troop Treasurers maintain open communication about the state of the bank account. They also help girls understand how to manage their funds and how they can put a fundraising plan together to reach their goals.
- Service Unit Volunteers
Provide volunteers with resources & mentor them as they work with Girl Scouts to give them a girl-led experience and create memories they will never forget.
