Saginaw, MI – Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan (GSHOM) is pleased to announce that the organization has received grant support for $4,500 grant from Bay Area Community Foundation. Support was provided in part by the Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council for $2,750, and the Women’s Philanthropy Circle for $1,750. Thanks to these two funds, GSHOM will be able to provide hands-on robotics programming for girls participating in Girl Scouting at the Boys and Girls Clubs in Bay County.
As part of their hands-on experience, girls will develop, code, and showcase their own robots. This programming will be complemented by career exploration discussions and events. The Girl Scouts Robotics Program at Boys and Girls Clubs is designed to give girls from resource-challenged circumstances the confidence to succeed in their own STEM careers. The Foundation’s support will provide scholarship assistance, program supplies, and group facilitator mentorship of girls as they engage in this important STEM learning opportunity.
“We’re so excited to continue working with the Boys and Girls Clubs in Bay County,” states GSHOM Senior Outreach Specialist Lisa Ingram. “And because of the Bay Area Community Foundation’s help, girls are going to have a great chance to learn things that can help them now, especially in their science classes. It’s also going to help them when they look at what they want to do in their professional life. And we know they’re going to have so much fun learning!”
GSHOM anticipates providing programming for 100 Bay County girls as a result of this important funding.
