Leadership Programs
Girl Scouts is the premiere leadership organization for girls, and camp provides unlimited options to be a role model for younger girls and hone leadership skills. Start your path to becoming a leader at camp, at school, and beyond!
Ready to start learning leadership skills and working with younger campers? This program is perfect for older campers who are ready to transition from camper to Counselor in Training. You’ll learn how to facilitate songs and games, plan and lead art activities, and help support younger campers during their time at camp. You’ll even get to help plan an activity! Campers will still participate in at least one camper choice activity per day.
Campers in this program will complete all requirements of Program Aide Training and receive their Program Aide pin.
The Counselor in Training (CIT) program provides a handson experience that puts you on the path to becoming a Camp Counselor. In this two-week program, you’ll be trained by seasoned camp staff and learn about leadership techniques and styles, group dynamics, outdoor skills, age characteristics, and more!
The CIT Program is designed so that high-school aged Girl Scouts can participate in leadership training, then apply those skills with campers in the same session. CITs will have the opportunity to shadow counselors and work directly with campers!
Once you’ve completed Counselor in Training I, head back to camp to build upon the skills you’ve learned. During this twoweek program, you will explore the program areas at camp and the basics of developing and delivering a camp program. CIT IIs will shadow the leadership team and work alongside them to facilitate programs. This session includes GSHOM archery training and slingshot range training.
