Girl Scouts will learn the history and parts of a book, along with
the tools, materials, and techniques used by bookbinders, as Cadettes
earn their Book Artist Badge at the KBAC Studios.

This program may spark interest in the
following career paths: Author, Paper Engineer, Book Seller,
Librarian
Outcomes: D2, D3, D4, D5, C5, T2, T4, T5
Included in Girl Registration Cost:
* 3 hours of hands-on programming with Kalamazoo Book Arts
Center (KBAC)
* A lesson on the history of books and bookbinding
techniques
* Practice bookbinding skills with projects that
include a pocket-fold journal, an accordion book, and a diamond fold
book made from recycled materials.
* Cadettes will earn their
Book Artist Badge, Seniors and Ambassadors will earn a fun
patch.
* The chance to see KBAC's Illustrated Accordion Book
exhibition which provides a unique, inspirational look at the
interpretations of the accordion book form by artists around the world!
*We will have a variety of materials on hand, but participants are
encouraged to bring materials that are interesting to them, that are
thin enough to be folded for their recycled materials project.
**The interior contents of the book projects will be completed at home.
Costs:
$50.00 per girl
$5.00 per adult
PLEASE note that this is NOT a drop-off event and proper Girl
Scout to Adult safety ratios MUST be met in order to participate in
the event. At least two adults are REQUIRED to accompany every
troop/group to an event.

Cancellations require two weeks' notice to be eligible for a
refund.
